Mississauga Festival Choir

The Mississauga Festival Choir is a community choir dedicated to excellence in choral performance in a wide variety of styles and for all ages. Led by Artistic Director David Ambrose, at the heart of the organization is the teaching of musicianship for all singers.  The choir is also dedicated to the promotion of musicians and composers from the community.

MFC currently performs two formal concerts a year at the Living Arts Centre, a massed choir concert in aid of a local charity and other community-based performances.

MFC is involved in such projects as commissioning original works from local and international composers, and collaborating with other community music groups.



MFC History

The 100-voice Mississauga Festival Choir was founded in 1984 to celebrate the City of Mississauga’s 10th Anniversary.

MFC has ben under the leadership of Artistic Director David Ambrose since 2005 when founding conductor, Dr. Lori-Anne Dolloff retired after 21 years of service to the choir.

In 1997, MFC was proud to be involved in the development of the Mississauga Festival Youth Choir, founded by Deborah Bradley.

Four years ago, MFC established its Chamber Choir, a 20-voice auditioned choir. In 2012, the Chamber Choir will perform a formal concert on March 31 at First United Church in Port Credit in addition to several community concerts.

MFC has embarked on choral tours, performing in Scotland in 2003 and Newfoundland in 2005. In July 2012, the choir will tour Ireland, including a performance in Dublin’s St. Patrick's Cathedral.

MFC recently released its first professional recording, "Together, Sing in Harmony," which features a broad range of music from Handel to Hammerstein.

MFC continues to thrive in its mandate to bring top quality choral music to the people of Mississauga as a true community choir.
